Dark Brown Sugar Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies

So I know my last post was about chocolate chip cookies too...but that was the "healthy" version, this is the indulgent version!  These are definitely different from the average chocolate chip cookie... there's a dark sweet molasses flavor because of the dark brown sugar, and a saltiness as almost an aftertaste... My hubby and I LOVED them!  They are crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside... heavenly...milk-thirst-inducing... Just try them.

Ingredients:
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 heaping tsp COARSE sea salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temp
  • 1/2 cup whipped butter, room temp (you can use all regular butter, I just opted to save a little bit of fat)
  • 2 cups DARK brown sugar (yes, this makes a difference, don't use light!)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 heaping cup milk chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350.  Whisk together flour, baking soda, salt in medium bowl.

In large bowl cream together butter and brown sugar, add eggs and vanilla, mix to combine until smooth.

Add the flour mixture to the wet mixture and combine.

Add the chocolate chips and gently mix to distribute them.

Bake at 350 for 11 minutes or until golden brown.  If you want chewy cookies, don't over-bake...err on the side of under-baking if you're not sure, just take them out and set them on the hot stovetop for another minute or so and they'll set.  This was a lesson it took me a long time to learn!  But it makes all the difference.
